Top Hearing aid brands

When you choose your hearing aid, it is important to go to an Audiologist who works with different hearing aid manufacturers and not just one brand. If any hearing aid centre sell or force you to buy only one brand, it may not be in your best interest.

There are over 1000 hearing aid brands in the world and some of those brands are available in India. It may be confusing for you to choose the best brand. While starting our clinic, we laid the following selection criteria to choose the hearing aid suppliers. These criteria are chosen from the customer perspective. So, before you buy a hearing aid, look for the following.

Criteria 1: Hearing aid manufacturers who have at least 15% of global market share - So, our customers always get the best product

Criteria 2: Operate (Sales and Service) directly in India i.e without any dealers - for obvious reasons

Criteria 3: Manufacturer who service the hearing aids we sell for at least 5 years - to reduce the expense & to provide quality hearing aid service for our customers.

Criteria 4: Manufacturer who has at least one authorised centre in every major district in India. So, our customers can get their product serviced in any nearby centre of their choice.

So, based on the above criteria, we deal with the following brands

1. Phonak, Unitron (~30% of global market share)
2. ReSound (~15% of global market share)
3. Signia (~15% of global market share and a top seller in India)

Within the above brands, some brand is better than the other depending on the hearing loss, type of hearing aid, your lifestyle and budget. Discuss with your Audiologists on the options and ask for hearing aid trail (HAT) from different manufacturers. The best hearing aid is the one which is suitable for your ears & brain and may not be the one which is claimed as best by others.

More importantly, avoid brands which locks the hearing aid to a specific hearing aid centre/chain. There are many such incidents of customers buying some specific brand in Chennai and come to us for fine tuning or support. We will not be able to serve those customers as the hearing aids are locked to that centre. If they don't like the services of those hearing centres, they have no other option other than using that unsuitable hearing aids for years.
